9-1-1 on the Rocks: 1x08 — “Karma's a Bitch” Recap: Sorry Bobby, You Have to Live
Karma comes for everyone this week, and apparently she has access to bullets, tanning beds, dump trucks, and one extremely motivated tiger. On 9-1-1, 1x08 "Karma's a Bitch," the universe is balancing its books — sometimes with satisfying absurdity, and sometimes with emotional devastation.
This episode we break down:
🌳 A bullet lodged in a tree, some deeply questionable DIY arborism, and perhaps the most elaborate “fuck around and find out” senario in Season 1.
🐅 A terrible dentist, a very good tiger, and the rare emergency where absolutely everyone is rooting for the large carnivore. Good kitty.
🩸 Chimney’s blood drive accidentally uncovering Bobby’s Super Magic Blood and, much more importantly, the horrifying reality of the bargain Bobby has made with himself.
🫣 And Hen discovering that when you sleep with your ex and spend an entire episode avoiding telling your wife, sometimes karma doesn’t bother with symbolism. Sometimes it just serves you custody papers. Yikes.
This episode is gleefully ridiculous on the surface, quietly devastating underneath, and maybe the first episode that really feels like the simultaneously completely unhinged and emotionally devastating 9-1-1 we've been watching for 9 seasons now.

911 on the Rocks - 1x08 - "Karma's a Bitch"
[00:00:00] Welcome & Episode Info
[00:00:00] Emily: Hello, welcome back to 911 on the Rocks, a Fandom on the Rocks podcast. I'm Emily
[00:00:04] Mandy: I'm Mandy
[00:00:05] Alison: And I'm Allison
[00:00:07] Emily: And my voice really went up on the end there. Welcome. this is season one, episode eight, "Karma's a Bitch"
[00:00:13] Alison: Karma's a bitch. You should've known better.
[00:00:16] Emily: You only get like 15 seconds and then we have to pay for it
[00:00:18] Mandy: It was a beautiful 15 seconds though.
[00:00:20] Alison: That's all, that's all I knew
[00:00:21] Emily: Thank you. the rundown. Well, okay, we've complained about bad rundowns before. This might be one of my favorites of the season so far. An unremorseful widower, an unsuspecting thief, and an arrogant fitness club owner receive a taste of karma
[00:00:36] Alison: I mean, There's other stuff in the episode, but yeah, that's good.
[00:00:41] Emily: That's, it's, very logline
[00:00:43] Alison: very
[00:00:44] Emily: and not descriptive at all. this episode aired March 7th, 2018. It was directed by Barbara Brown, I don't remember her, but written by Kristen Reidel
[00:00:54] Alison: Hi, Kristen Rydell
[00:00:57] Emily: have a chat about her one day
[00:00:59] Alison: it's one of [00:01:00] those things that, you know, some people are very, very, very good at their jobs, and we disagree and commit.
[00:01:08] Emily: Yes.
[00:01:08] Mandy: Interesting. So there was drama with her
[00:01:11] Alison: There
[00:01:11] Mandy: or
[00:01:12] Emily: There
[00:01:12] Mandy: there... Okay.
[00:01:13] Emily: yes.
[00:01:14] Mandy: Okay
[00:01:15] Alison: Yeah. It's one of
[00:01:16] Emily: We
[00:01:16] Alison: like, I know that if Kristen writes an episode, that it's probably gonna be pretty well-written. I don't things that I want from an episode are not generally
[00:01:27] Mandy: Ah.
[00:01:28] Alison: she wants from an episode.
[00:01:29] Emily: Mm-hmm
[00:01:29] Mandy: Okay. I get the vibe now. Yeah
[00:01:32] Emily: Yes. And she is a executive, producer, showrunner, et cetera, on a number of Ryan Murphy projects. She is in and around the,
[00:01:40] Mandy: Okay
[00:01:42] Emily: eco verse. She becomes the showrunner... Ooh, I forget what season.
[00:01:48] Alison: Four or five
[00:01:49] Emily: Four?
[00:01:50] Alison: six or something?
[00:01:51] Emily: Some- somewhere in there. Yeah.
[00:01:53] Mandy: Did, did she have anything to do with Glee? I don't recognize the name. Or did she come along after?
[00:01:57] Emily: She is not Glee. She is, American [00:02:00] Horror Story,
[00:02:01] Mandy: Okay. Gotcha
[00:02:02] Emily: and The Blacklist. And she
[00:02:04] Mandy: Okay
[00:02:04] Emily: touchy touch on Sleepy Hollow, but Sleepy Hollow is a sore spot for me, so I don't wanna talk about it.
[00:02:09] Mandy: Hmm. Okay
[00:02:10] Alison: Sleepy Hollow on the Rocks coming in 2035
[00:02:13] Emily: another show I never finished because I got so mad at it for going the way it went. I never finished it, but the first couple seasons are phenomenal, and I re-watch them sometimes. But then it gets to a point where I'm like, "Nope, can't, Hurts too much." Anyway, that's another
[00:02:28] Alison: unfortunately I did get to a hoot the hoot hurts too much, part in this episode, and I was like,
[00:02:34] Emily: Oh
[00:02:34] Alison: it, we're only in season one. This is, we got a long way to go
[00:02:38] Emily: This, okay. Do, so okay, I guess there has to be a trigger warning or a content warning for suicidal discussion and ideation, in the episode.
[00:02:47] Alison: Nash is not doing well
[00:02:49] Emily: He
[00:02:50] Mandy: He's not feeling great
[00:02:51] Emily: and also one of the opening images of this episode is a woman hanging from a tree, allegedly
[00:02:57] Alison: is.
[00:02:57] Emily: hung herself. the cinematography is [00:03:00] quite lovely though.
[00:03:00] The Tree: Dan & Sarah
[00:03:00] Emily: So we do begin the episode with a classic beep, 911, what's your emergency? A man says he's been shot. and then the 118 show up to the middle of nowhere California. Is this their jurisdiction? Absolutely not. This should be somebody else's problem, but it is the 118. And Hen is like, "We've, we've been there before," 'cause we've got
[00:03:23] Emily: A guy lying in the grass. He's been shot in the chest. He's got a rifle next to him. Seems weird.
[00:03:29] Alison: Seems weird
[00:03:30] Emily: And Hen's like, "We've been here before." And Buck is like, "Not me," it's always about Buck. Bobby tells him like, "Before you joined us, kid." So canonically, or fanon, canon, Bobby does call Buck kid as a reminder
[00:03:47] Alison: took him eight episodes and it made my heart hurt a lot
[00:03:53] Emily: Yes. Canon or fanon drop. He does call Buck "kid." You can put it in the fic, you can put it in the gift sets. It [00:04:00] happens. acceptable.
[00:04:02] Alison: Ouch, my heart
[00:04:03] Emily: out your heart. But we get a, a camera pan to this big old beautiful tree. We get some thunder and lightning, and then the scene changes to a, a woman hanging from the tree. And we get our first flashback of many flashbacks in this episode to one year ago. they are... The 118 are responding to this house, to this tree, of this woman who has... Something has happened to her. trying to revive her, and the husband from the flash forward
[00:04:38] Alison: From
[00:04:38] Emily: is
[00:04:38] Alison: got shot
[00:04:40] Emily: the guy who has been shot in the future present. He's standing there watching them try to revive his wife, who has been hanging from the tree, and he doesn't look sad at all
[00:04:49] Alison: No, he does not
[00:04:51] Emily: And he's giving, you know, "Well, why, why, why would she do this?" But very deadpan, like, "Why would she do this? could have helped her. I," [00:05:00] checks notes, "love her." and Hen and Bobby are like, " This guy seems suspicious."
[00:05:06] Emily: They find injuries on this woman's hands and arms, and the husband, whose name is I think Danford, but they call him Dan. In the credits, I think he's Danford. he's like, "Yeah, my wife u- likes to use this tree for practice," which is a detail that he didn't need to tell anybody
[00:05:24] Alison: No,
[00:05:25] Emily: But there is a, a bullet lodged in this poor tree.
[00:05:28] Emily: Th- this tree really takes a beating.
[00:05:31] Alison: True story.
[00:05:32] Emily: But
[00:05:32] Mandy: The tree is the real victim
[00:05:34] Emily: the tree is the victim, and now we have to flash back again. And if you've ever seen "Lost," you know how to do this. We flashbacker. Yes, a flash
[00:05:42] Alison: A flash-forward, a
[00:05:43] Mandy: Yeah
[00:05:43] Alison: within a flashback? Does it matter?
[00:05:46] Emily: sideways perhaps. We are flashbacking-er to a fight between Dan and Sarah, and he throws her to the ground, and he's like, "You do this to yourself." And we get a lot of [00:06:00] domestic violence in the first season of the show.
[00:06:02] Alison: We really do, for sure.
[00:06:03] Emily: wild
[00:06:04] Alison: is a big thing in the first couple seasons
[00:06:06] Emily: Yeah. she's, you know, "What do you want me to tell you? That I found someone else and we've been fucking in the car?
[00:06:11] Emily: Is that gonna make you feel better?" And she has a gun
[00:06:15] Alison: My
[00:06:15] Emily: because
[00:06:16] Alison: here first is Henrietta Wilson, defender of women, because Hen is not at all afraid to smack talk Danford after finding wounds on his wife.
[00:06:27] Emily: Yeah
[00:06:28] Alison: but the note here is more women on this show deserve guns, for real
[00:06:32] Emily: I mean,
[00:06:33] Mandy: Yeah
[00:06:33] Emily: have guns, but if someone is going to, it should be the women
[00:06:36] Alison: Because at least once a season, I look at a woman, at a female character on this show and go, "You know what? She deserves a gun."
[00:06:43] Emily: and then it just pans to Madi on
[00:06:46] Alison: in which we don't hurt real people
[00:06:48] Emily: Yeah.
[00:06:48] Alison: Let's be clear about this
[00:06:49] Emily: And then on the screen just pops up an image of Maddie Buckley, the character who deserve,
[00:06:54] Alison: Taylor Kelly,
[00:06:55] Emily: who deserves a gun. so she's got a gun on him, and she's like, "I, what I'm [00:07:00] mad about is letting you do this to me."
[00:07:01] Alison: Yes.
[00:07:03] Emily: And she's correct. and the actress is also from a show that I really like called Grimm, so I was happy to see her again. Anyway,
[00:07:09] Alison: Nice
[00:07:10] Emily: and he does his stupid macho thing of like, "Pull the trigger," and he runs at her, and she does shoot at him, but misses
[00:07:19] Alison: Rip
[00:07:20] Emily: And hits this poor tree. And he hits her again because of course he does. But I guess she gets the last laugh
[00:07:28] Alison: Sorta
[00:07:28] Emily: this tree, having been struck by a bullet, starts to die. I don't know how factual this is, I am not an arborist, but it gets, like, a fungal infection.
[00:07:38] Alison: The tree gets sick
[00:07:39] Emily: And the tree gets sick. tree law. So instead of paying an arborist to take the tree down, Danny Boy here just ties explosives to the tree ' cause he's gonna blow it up. But the ex-
[00:07:53] Alison: I hope he has fun. I hope that nobody looked at him funny when he bought all of that
[00:07:58] Emily: Right?
[00:07:59] Alison: I [00:08:00] hope that for that moment where he shot, where he, like, pulled the trigger, I hope he was like, "I am the MythBuster. I am the only one that matters."
[00:08:08] Emily: Well, for a moment he was the only one that mattered the explosion shot the bullet that was stuck in the tree back into his chest And kills him. I do love that Bobby and Hen just immediately figure out that it was the old Bullet.
[00:08:26] Alison: Yeah.
[00:08:27] Emily: been a
[00:08:27] Mandy: There's n- yeah.
[00:08:28] Alison: Eh
[00:08:29] Emily: and they're just like, "Oh, yeah. all the things that we've seen, And we get our first karma's a bitch Sure.
[00:08:37] Karma & The Blood Drive
[00:08:38] Emily: Now, karma, this is not karma, and I don't wanna lecture anybody on the actual principles of karma, but they are using a very Western, modern concept of what goes around comes around, and that's, that's not Buddhist or Hindu takes on karma. So I just wanted to put that out [00:09:00] there,
[00:09:00] Mandy: Yeah, I think they also have more fun saying karma's a bitch than all of that
[00:09:05] Emily: It does, yeah. It does. Yeah And like, what are we gonna talk about? Like laws of growth and humility and the 12 laws of karma in, in this show? Probably not.
[00:09:14] Alison: not
[00:09:15] Emily: No. But you don't get to say karma's a bitch otherwise. So, we do now have some lore drop with Bobby Nash because Chimney is hosting a blood drive
[00:09:26] Alison: Chimmy, a volunteer.
[00:09:29] Emily: I love the concept of this because more people should be donating blood
[00:09:33] Alison: Correct
[00:09:34] Emily: he, he's not quite lecturing that 90% of blood comes from volunteers, but people should be donating blood if they can. It's not hard, it's fast, and it's good for your community.
[00:09:45] Mandy: You get free snacks
[00:09:46] Emily: you should go do that if you can, everybody. but Chimney's put this, blood donation together at the station. Buck is happily showing off his biceps the entire time.
[00:09:57] Alison: the whole time.
[00:09:58] Emily: He's just [00:10:00] fully flexed
[00:10:01] Alison: He's so pretty and he's so happy about it. He's
[00:10:03] Emily: Yeah. Now, having the on-duty firefighters donate blood is, like, not the best order of operations,
[00:10:11] Alison: No, probably not
[00:10:12] Mandy: Yeah
[00:10:13] Emily: who cares? but, but Bobby rolls in, in his, his skivvies, his, you know, his off-duty because apparently they shift change in the middle of the afternoon
[00:10:24] Alison: Yeah, sure why not?
[00:10:25] Emily: not how that works, but that's fine.
[00:10:27] Emily: And he is like, "Good job, you guys. You're doing so good. I am gonna go get ready for work," doo, doo, doo, because he is not donating blood because
[00:10:38] Alison: over here. You guys can stay over there. We're all gonna be fine.
[00:10:43] Emily: because one, Robert Nash is afraid of needles.
[00:10:47] Alison: this for him
[00:10:48] Emily: I adore this. He alleges that he has only had blood taken from him twice, one as a kid when he bit the doctor, and then as an adult when he fainted. I [00:11:00] fail to see how that's true as a firefighter and not having, like, blood tests, but
[00:11:04] Mandy: Yeah
[00:11:05] Emily: We'll accept it. but I do love just the flash of him falling off the table as an, a fully grown adult.
[00:11:11] Alison: physical comedy Bobby Nash.
[00:11:14] Emily: He doesn't get enough of being a goofball,
[00:11:17] Alison: No
[00:11:17] Emily: Peter Krause is actually just so funny
[00:11:20] Alison: Dude, I, so I, I've never, I've, I've never met this man. I will never meet this man, but he's married to Lauren Graham.
[00:11:26] Alison: He's gotta be funny.
[00:11:28] Mandy: Yeah
[00:11:29] Alison: He's
[00:11:29] Emily: has to be.
[00:11:29] Alison: Lorelai Gilmore. He's got to be funny
[00:11:32] Emily: Every once in a while in this show, he gets to not be super serious Captain Bobby Nash, and you're like, if this was like a buddy comedy
[00:11:43] Alison: Ugh
[00:11:44] Emily: and he j- just gets to do goofy, silly things. like in his Hawaiian shirt on the cruise ship later
[00:11:50] Alison: man. Or with the Roomba.
[00:11:52] Emily: Yes, delightful. So good.
[00:11:56] Alison: He's so good.
[00:11:58] Emily: and
[00:11:58] Alison: Peepaw
[00:11:59] Emily: Peepaw, [00:12:00] and he's what, 45? Peepaw
[00:12:02] Alison: exactly.
[00:12:03] Emily: this point. he's only... All right, anyway. so Chimney has to, know, give him a little nudge of "Listen, I'm only alive because people donated blood for me, and we're balancing out with the universe. Hint, hint, nudge, nudge. Okay? And you asked how you could help with my recovery, and this is how. So
[00:12:31] Mandy: Like that emotional manipulation at its best
[00:12:34] Emily: Fully manipulative. And we love him for it
[00:12:37] Alison: We do
[00:12:39] Mandy: He's doing it for a good cause
[00:12:40] Emily: He is doing it for a good cause. Go donate blood, everyone. so we have our, our other main storyline here,
[00:12:47] Athena & Michael
[00:12:47] Emily: Athena and Michael working their way through strange family situation. They send the kids off to school in separate cars. Other people are taking their children to school. I don't know who these [00:13:00] people are.
[00:13:00] Alison: I guess they're friends. I, I don't know. But Michael's doing this very kind of... It's not overbearing, Michael is trying so hard here
[00:13:10] Emily: Yeah, he, he is. Athena is like, "Get the fuck out of my face about this." She
[00:13:17] Alison: And
[00:13:18] Emily: she is not happy
[00:13:19] Alison: hard because I can understand both perspectives, which I think is kind of the key here. because Michael is trying to live more authentically and still love the people that he's loved the whole time, and is just to very happily find a way to make both of those things happen.
[00:13:40] Emily: Mm-hmm.
[00:13:41] Alison: And Athena is feeling, betrayed basically.
[00:13:46] Emily: Mm-hmm.
[00:13:47] Alison: And they both deserve to have those feelings, and yet they kind of can't have those feelings in a happy household, which is what the whole episode's about. and so it's like, I get it, no one's in the right and no one's in the wrong, [00:14:00] and everything sucks. And Athena
[00:14:02] Mandy: I
[00:14:02] Alison: say it later
[00:14:03] Mandy: actually
[00:14:04] Alison: but it's one of those, "I have to do this now while I still love you."
[00:14:07] Mandy: I was surprised at how sympathetic I ended up feeling towards Michael,
[00:14:13] Alison: Yeah.
[00:14:13] Mandy: the entire thing's from kind of Athena's perspective, but he's definitely not a villain. Like, at least as of what I've seen.
[00:14:22] Alison: Yeah. No, he's not a villain. He's not the antagonist. He's just trying his best
[00:14:28] Emily: Yeah I think w- every once in a while there's like, it, and maybe it's just being like, oversensitive, I don't know. There's times where it's like, "Athena, are you being like a little homophobic in your
[00:14:40] Mandy: A little, I think she kind of like, yeah, she's got some hurt feelings and she's not expressing them in the most mature ways
[00:14:48] Alison: Yeah, she's pretty hurt.
[00:14:50] Emily: Yeah
[00:14:50] Alison: but...
[00:14:51] Emily: look like if Michael were just seeing a woman?
[00:14:55] Mandy: Yeah
[00:14:56] Emily: and it was another woman But it's not, is it?
[00:14:59] Alison: It's [00:15:00] Glenn.
[00:15:01] Emily: Glenn,
[00:15:02] Alison: Hi, Glenn.
[00:15:03] Emily: who's not the guy we're gonna care about later, but it's fine
[00:15:06] Alison: correct. We'll care about somebody else
[00:15:08] Emily: Yeah. Glenn is like, "Yeah, whatever. You're fine." but yeah, so they, they have a lot to deal with.
[00:15:13] Barry & the Tanning Bed
[00:15:13] Emily: We have another call at a gym, at Metro Fitness. This is where we're starting to lean into the of the 911 call. " What's your emergency?" "My boss is burning up." Is that the way you need it to fit?
[00:15:29] Alison: Like, no
[00:15:31] Emily: Nope. We meet Carrie, an employee who's just been fired. She has smelled something burning, that is her boss, Barry, who somehow got stuck in a tanning bed, and he has been in there a while
[00:15:46] Alison: Bleh.
[00:15:47] Mandy: Destination"
[00:15:48] Alison: Basically
[00:15:50] Mandy: like,
[00:15:50] Emily: final
[00:15:50] Mandy: My brain can't help but like carry that further and it just, ugh, no
[00:15:55] Emily: Mm-hmm. Unfortunately, Barry is a little bit [00:16:00] alive Michael, he seems to have like, he probably had a stroke, which is why he didn't really
[00:16:04] Emily: get himself out of the standing bed, because he's stacking steroids. Don't do that. tries CPR, but his skin just comes off Yeah
[00:16:16] Mandy: What? Ugh. Nope
[00:16:18] Emily: But, in this case, luckily he dies because otherwise...
[00:16:22] Alison: It just like sticks to her. Ew. Yes
[00:16:22] Mandy: Yeah
[00:16:24] Emily: Ugh. And Carrie, the employee, is like, "This is so weird after what happened with Mindy." Because who is Mindy indeed? Another flashback
[00:16:36] Alison: Donna
[00:16:36] Emily: Barry has rolled up to the gym in a small dick lifted truck with a little tiny dog
[00:16:44] Alison: I have a thousand questions about Mindy the little bitty dog.
[00:16:49] Emily: Whose dog is this? Is it a girlfriend's dog? Why does he have this dog with him?
[00:16:53] Alison: Mindy the little bitty do- how
[00:16:54] Emily: I know.
[00:16:55] Alison: two creatures find each
[00:16:57] Emily: Come to know each other? I know
[00:16:58] Alison: How did they [00:17:00] become a pair? I need
[00:17:01] Emily: Especially because he clearly doesn't love Mindy, the little tiny dog
[00:17:05] Alison: He just, like, kind of tolerates her. He's like, "Yeah, whatever, it's a little dog."
[00:17:08] Emily: Yeah
[00:17:09] Alison: This very particular man end up with this very particular dog? I just, I have questions.
[00:17:14] Emily: gotta be a girlfriend. Because he's gonna leave Mindy in the car while he goes, the truck, while he goes and works out. And Carrie happens to see this, and she's like, "Don't leave your car in the truck, asshole." And she gives him the spiel about how hot cars get even when it doesn't seem like it's that hot outside.
[00:17:32] Emily: Everyone, go look up the numbers. Don't fucking do that shit. But Barry doesn't care, 'cause he's only gonna do chest. So Barry leaves, and Carrie's like, "Fuck this dude." So she goes into the gym gets a kettlebell,
[00:17:46] Alison: this for her
[00:17:48] Mandy: I really did love this. Yeah
[00:17:50] Emily: This is incredible, and breaks the glass to get Mindy out of the truck.
[00:17:54] Alison: Good job.
[00:17:55] Emily: And Barry fires her, which fine, fuck this. [00:18:00] And Hen repeats, " Karma's a bitch."
[00:18:03] Alison: You shoulda known better.
[00:18:04] Emily: Because
[00:18:05] Alison: Sorry. Guys
[00:18:06] Emily: do you get it? Because the car was hot the tanning bed was hot,
[00:18:11] Mandy: Uhum!
[00:18:12] Emily: so the two... Yeah. Okay. But Bobby is here, and he, instead of... So for once, it's Bobby getting a phone call on a scene and not Buck,
[00:18:21] Alison: And not Buck.
[00:18:22] Emily: because Abby barely exists in this episode
[00:18:25] Mandy: I, and I have thoughts about that, but we'll get to them later
[00:18:28] Emily: this entire time. I was like, "Oh, Mandy's not gonna like this."
[00:18:32] Mandy: No
[00:18:33] Emily: Cedars is calling the hospital, and there's something about the blood that he's donated. They found something.
[00:18:40] Alison: Rut row
[00:18:42] Bobby's Secret
[00:18:42] Emily: So of course Bobby goes to church to meet with the world's hottest priest,
[00:18:46] Alison: Correct, because Bobby has only one person he counts on, and his name is Father Firework
[00:18:53] Mandy: I actually did get introduced to a new phrase on the, Reddit from the week this aired, which [00:19:00] is PILF. People were calling him a PILF. Yeah, priest I'd like to fuck.
[00:19:04] Emily: Incredible.
[00:19:05] Emily: Yep
[00:19:06] Mandy: there.
[00:19:06] Alison: he
[00:19:06] Mandy: Yeah.
[00:19:07] Alison: more attractive over time.
[00:19:08] Emily: really does because
[00:19:10] Alison: really
[00:19:10] Emily: less baby and more man
[00:19:13] Mandy: Nice
[00:19:14] Alison: He gets even cuter over time.
[00:19:16] Emily: Eddie sure thinks so
[00:19:18] Alison: Oh, don't talk to me, Emily
[00:19:20] Emily: So of course, so, and, and apparently no one else ever comes to this church because they have all the space in the world to have this very frank conversation. And Bobby's like, I gotta show you my secret." And it's his
[00:19:33] Alison: Somebody's got a secret
[00:19:35] Emily: He does. little black book. And he's like, "It's, it's my list of names, my little prayer book here. It's... i've written down 62 now of 148 of the people who died because of me, this is how I know how to balance the ledger," because fate karma. And that's how much he owes. And then he says, [00:20:00] then I can go."
[00:20:02] Alison: then I can go. Bobby Nash in Season 1 is explicitly suicidal.
[00:20:08] Emily: He sure is. Yeah. And Brian, Father Brian is like, we don't do that here in the Catholic Church."
[00:20:17] Alison: Yeah Robert, you are aware that that's against the rules, right?
[00:20:21] Emily: Yeah. We don't... Mm. That's one of the top sins in this church here. and he's like, or Bobby's like, "Do you believe in karma?" And the priest goes, "I believe in God's justice." And I was like, "Those are not the same thing.
[00:20:35] Alison: even
[00:20:36] Emily: Not even close." And Bobby's like, "Well, what about his sense of humor?" I was like, "Well, we can have a frank discussion about that later."
[00:20:45] Alison: Oh
[00:20:46] Emily: and he's like, "There's something in my blood." And of course he thinks it's bad because when the doctor calls you and says, "We need to talk," you're like, "I'm gonna die." And he's like, "I might not live long enough to get my [00:21:00] 148 names, and is my soul gonna be at peace if those go unpaid?" I, I don't know, man. Are they?
[00:21:08] Alison: Bobby could ever truly be at peace, but
[00:21:11] Emily: No, he can't. That's the other thing is like he can't, he will never be at peace, sadly. Which we kind of get throughout the other seasons. he tries, but eh. And then we have a little tone shift because why not? And Instant Karma by John Legend- John Lennon plays. The music in this episode is pretty choice.
[00:21:32] Alison: is.
[00:21:32] Emily: It's a bit of a Glee episode
[00:21:33] Alison: all, it's very much. But it's, it's all very good and it's all deeply on theme. Love a
[00:21:39] Emily: Because
[00:21:39] Alison: episode
[00:21:40] Emily: Chameleon played earlier
[00:21:41] Alison: Karma, karma, karma, so sorry, guys.
[00:21:44] Lorraine the Porch Pirate
[00:21:44] Emily: we meet Lorraine Collins, a package thief
[00:21:48] Alison: Porch pirate
[00:21:49] Emily: Yes. And she is just following delivery trucks around in her khakis, taking boxes off people's porches. She's not subtle at [00:22:00] all. and then she just falls down some stairs and, and hurts herself
[00:22:03] Alison: Ba-doop.
[00:22:03] Emily: instant karma? Again, literally not how the Buddhists think of it, but it, whatever. she calls 911 because she thinks she broke a hip. The 118 rolls up, and also Athena
[00:22:17] Alison: Weird. 727L30 responding
[00:22:20] Emily: Because one of the neighbors has called to be like, "That's the porch pirate. That bitch has been taking our stuff for months." And Lorraine is like, m- what, me?
[00:22:31] Emily: Me?" Thena's like, "Don't worry, we're gonna take you to the hospital and then charge you with every count of theft we can possibly get." And poor Lorraine is like, "Listen, I don't even take, I don't s- I don't take the packages.
[00:22:43] Emily: I just like stealing them and opening them."
[00:22:45] Alison: You know what? As someone who also enjoys opening presents, like I get it,
[00:22:50] Emily: Yeah.
[00:22:50] Alison: but don't do that to yourself
[00:22:52] Emily: And she's like, "I was supposed to go to rehab, but they won't take my insurance," which is such...
[00:22:57] Mandy: That was too real.
[00:22:58] Emily: that was
[00:22:59] Emily: too real [00:23:00] for this. I was like, "Wait a
[00:23:01] Mandy: Yeah
[00:23:01] Emily: That's... Hold on. We need to actually talk about this. You, you're, you have, do you not have prior authorization to go to rehab? That's sad. Wait. Hold on. Am I supposed to feel bad for her now?" but really this is like a lead-up to get, to get a little conversation with Hen and Athena
[00:23:18] Alison: Yes. Hensina besties this episode,
[00:23:21] Emily: Yes.
[00:23:21] Alison: tell you
[00:23:23] Mandy: I love them.
[00:23:24] Emily: Mm-hmm
[00:23:24] Mandy: mean, I'm frustrated at both of them individually, but I love their friendship
[00:23:28] Emily: Yeah, me too. And Athena's like, " Michael has all of these plans with Glenn, and I don't care for it. And, you know, it's hard because we're playing family, but Michael, the man, gets to go out there and get a new guy and a new life, and I'm stuck pushing my feelings to the side." Which is pretty valid But she is also the one who was like, in the beginning, "We're gonna hold this together [00:24:00] for the kids." And Hen, who maybe doesn't have any, any foot to stand on when it comes to giving advice right now
[00:24:09] Alison: Not right now.
[00:24:10] Mandy: No
[00:24:10] Alison: now.
[00:24:11] Emily: is like, "Listen, you gotta fix this before you start hating Michael because kids will follow your lead." And she's totally right. And if you hate him, the kids are gonna hate him too, and everything is gonna get worse And Poor Chimney just throws open the, the bay doors and is like, "Hey, we're fucking working here."
[00:24:31] Alison: What is it? she keeps second guessing everything I do and it's really hurting my feelings
[00:24:35] Emily: Like we, can we get a move on? We're on the clock
[00:24:39] Mandy: You know, I think maybe because he's not a focus in this episode, this is the most I've ever liked Jim. I mean, not, like, it's the stuff with Bobby, but mostly the humor the rest of the episode
[00:24:49] Emily: Yeah. I like Funny Chimney. He's a, you know
[00:24:52] Alison: great and he's very funny, and Kenny Choi is like the funniest man on Earth, so like
[00:24:57] Emily: He's a goof, [00:25:00] and in some of the recent conventions when he just goes off on a rant about not getting scripts on time and never knowing what's going on in the show, and you're just like, "I know."
[00:25:08] Alison: I know.
[00:25:09] Emily: We-
[00:25:10] Alison: right.
[00:25:10] Alison: Just live your dreams.
[00:25:11] Emily: you're right, and you should say it out loud.
[00:25:14] Alison: Live your dreams, King.
[00:25:15] Emily: Yep.
[00:25:15] Alison: support you
[00:25:16] Emily: Yep, and, take your shirt off more. It's fine.
[00:25:18] Alison: Yes, please
[00:25:19] Bobby's Blood & Rhesus Disease
[00:25:19] Emily: So back to Bobby and Chim. They're at the hospital together 'cause Bobby needs his emotional support lieutenant
[00:25:26] Alison: His best friend, Chimney Han.
[00:25:30] Emily: His only friend, Jimmy Han?
[00:25:32] Alison: only friend is Chimney Han, so I'm looking at the, at the long con here, and
[00:25:37] Emily: Isn't that Oliver's movie?
[00:25:39] Alison: sh- no, different long con. My bad. I would love to see the long con, not I need it to come to the short film festivals in my neighborhood. But, between season, what was it, episode three when Chimney gets stabbed with a rebar, it's like, yeah, his family is here, and, like, the hand-holding on the bedside,
[00:25:55] Emily: Hmm
[00:25:55] Alison: now this with their whole, like, "I'm your ride or die."
[00:25:58] Alison: Like, these two are [00:26:00] besties, and my heart hurts.
[00:26:01] Emily: Yeah.
[00:26:02] Alison: them.
[00:26:03] Emily: He's got... Okay, you have to pick. Bobby Chimney, Bobby Abby
[00:26:10] Alison: In which universe?
[00:26:12] Emily: I don't care. What do you mean which universe?
[00:26:14] Alison: Like, am I doing a universe in which I'm diverting, um,
[00:26:19] Emily: This universe
[00:26:20] Alison: in, into, like, which would I rather have gone canon or which w- is the only one I can read on AO3 or, like, what?
[00:26:28] Emily: Which makes you, mm, happier? Which gives you the tingles? Which gives you the like, "Yes, that's my, my pairing"? Obviously not in canon, 'cause like
[00:26:39] Alison: I mean, okay. think I would, I would like Bobby, Abby more in canon just because I would've loved a little bit of a juicier Bobby, Abby, Buck,
[00:26:54] Emily: 嗯,嗯哼。
[00:26:55] Alison: scenario. don't-- you cannot tell me that it's like [00:27:00] that Buck wouldn't go bananas about muffins in both directions because he's trying to impress Bobby, but he's also trying to impress Abby, and he's getting the lines crossed.
[00:27:08] Emily: Mm-hmm. Yes
[00:27:09] Alison: But it also wouldn't have surprised me if in season seven or six or whatever, before everyone makes their paperwork choices, it's like, "Oh, yeah. Well, you know, Chimmy and Bobby have been actually married for four years now." Just easier for the
[00:27:26] Emily: Yeah. But then where's Maddie?
[00:27:28] Alison: Like I said, w- Bobby already does paperwork.
[00:27:31] Alison: Bobby does paperwork first, and then Chimney does paperwork, and it's fine. But, like, in my heart, you know, they're dealing with this about, like, "How did you and Abby deal," or like, how did you and Karen figure this out?" It's like, "Well, you know, Karen and I have all these things." And like, "Well, what about Chim?"
[00:27:45] Alison: It's like, "Well, no, Chim and Bobby have been married for years." Like, that would've been fun for me. But
[00:27:51] Emily: We'll take it
[00:27:52] Alison: As, like, a real thing I would have liked to see in season one, I would've liked to see the Bobby, Buck, [00:28:00] Abby
[00:28:00] Emily: Yes.
[00:28:00] Alison: scenario.
[00:28:02] Emily: Yeah, especially if it had been a longer season
[00:28:04] Alison: Yes, for sure
[00:28:05] Emily: Yeah.
[00:28:06] Mandy: Oh, it's so good
[00:28:07] Emily: All the things we could've had
[00:28:09] Alison: I cannot wait someday to go seek the wisdom of the scholars who have foretold this prophecy
[00:28:17] Emily: Who have already written it.
[00:28:18] Alison: have already written it so I don't have to.
[00:28:20] Emily: okay. Well, you'll find it. It's there. What we have here is, the world's worst bedside manner from a doctor giving you good news
[00:28:31] Mandy: Yeah, really.
[00:28:32] Emily: This man comes in looking like they're both gonna die.
[00:28:37] Alison: Yes
[00:28:38] Emily: He's like, "Have you ever heard of Racist Disease? It's terrible, fatal in most cases, but you don't have it
[00:28:46] Mandy: Maybe lead with that next time, dude
[00:28:47] Emily: I hate this guy. because it's only pregnant women and their fetuses. And I didn't look up rhesus disease, but I do know about this case. So there's like 4,000 cases a year. [00:29:00] There's a guy in Australia known as the Man with the Golden Arm. He has a special blah, blah, blah, blah in his blood that has helped save the lives of a lot of children and babies and whatever through blood donation.
[00:29:14] Emily: He's a real person. They took this right out of Wikipedia. but I did not look up like, did they get all the details right, because
[00:29:21] Mandy: They absolutely did not.
[00:29:24] Emily: Yeah, I was gonna say,
[00:29:24] Mandy: Because people--
[00:29:25] Emily: they didn't get this right at
[00:29:26] Mandy: Yeah. I mean, it seems like the biggest mistake they made is that, it wouldn't have been like babies born, babies diagnosed, babies treated. The mother has to be treated early in the pregnancy.
[00:29:38] Alison: Yeah.
[00:29:38] Mandy: But I think that would've made for a less touching moment standing there just like watching a like five-month pregnant woman sit on a table.
[00:29:45] Alison: Yeah.
[00:29:45] Mandy: I get why they did it, but yeah. It does seem like they very, very much got wrong how it's actually treated and what his blood would've been doing.
[00:29:53] Alison: Yeah. 'Cause the way it works, so you know a blood type has the letter and then it's got the plus or minus, and those two things [00:30:00] stand for antibodies. So
[00:30:01] Alison: the AB, the A and B are different antibody markers, and an O is no antibody markers, and then the AB is you have them both. And the plus or minus is the presence of the rhesus antibody.
[00:30:14] Mandy: Mm-hmm.
[00:30:15] Alison: the A and B antibodies can't cross the uterine wall,
[00:30:19] Emily: Mm, sure.
[00:30:20] Alison: rhesus can.
[00:30:22] Emily: Okay. Yep
[00:30:23] Alison: and so if the mother has a different basically rhesus blood type than the fetus does, then,
[00:30:30] Emily: Bad things
[00:30:32] Alison: Then like, you know, if the mother is positive and the baby is negative, then the mother can be like, "Hey, look, that's a thing I'm supposed to attack," and then attacks the fetus because it doesn't have that antibody.
[00:30:43] Alison: and so if you-- And it can, it can happen the other direction, but it's a lot less strong the other direction.
[00:30:49] Emily: Mm-hmm.
[00:30:49] Alison: so basically who have negative blood types who have a baby that has a positive blood type basically has to get kind of polite [00:31:00] injections of the rhesus antibody
[00:31:01] Emily: Hmm.
[00:31:01] Emily: Mm-hmm
[00:31:02] Alison: So that their body doesn't attack the fetus. Yay!
[00:31:07] Emily: Or
[00:31:07] Alison: magic blood
[00:31:09] Emily: you just don't get pregnant
[00:31:10] Alison: Bobby's magic blood
[00:31:12] Emily: Bobby's magic blood. 'cause I had heard about the dude, the man with the golden arm. Like I, I knew this was a real thing, but like with most things with children, I just don't look them up ' cause pregnancy. Ugh.
[00:31:24] Alison: Yeah, he died not long ago.
[00:31:26] Emily: did. I did hear about that, yeah. Yeah. And surely, is this not something that we can just manufacture artificially now? Do we not have enough of this man's blood that we can just make it?
[00:31:37] Alison: I don't
[00:31:38] Emily: Must we force him through this once every eight weeks for the rest of his life?
[00:31:43] Alison: Yes, force him.
[00:31:45] Emily: know what I mean. Well, force Bobby, ' cause he doesn't like needles. so they want Bobby to be in this rare donors program to save the children. And Chimney is like, "Hooray. Look what I have brought you. I [00:32:00] have brought you a gift." And Bobby's like, "Goodbye. I don't want this." and that takes us back to another tone shift
[00:32:08] Alison: Yeah.
[00:32:08] Emily: Because Glee.
[00:32:10] Alison: 'Cause Glee.
[00:32:10] Emily: so
[00:32:11] The Zoo / Tiger Attack
[00:32:12] Emily: we got a shitbag family at the zoo, and these people who are much too old to be begging anything are like, "We wanna see the tigers," who are enjoying a nap.
[00:32:22] Alison: I'm just yelling at my screen.
[00:32:24] Emily: I know. I hated all of this.
[00:32:26] Alison: I hated all of this.
[00:32:27] Emily: so
[00:32:28] Alison: face.
[00:32:28] Emily: I just...
[00:32:29] Alison: Stop it
[00:32:29] Emily: I have a complicated relationship with zoos anyway, so like, ugh. but... And that, I put that on the kids, but they're like, in...
[00:32:37] Emily: They're teenagers. so we have Sean, the uncle, starts actively throwing shit into the enclosure and hits the tiger with, it's like a pine cone or something, to get the tiger to, like, move so they can get a better picture of it.
[00:32:51] Alison: Sounds like a great idea.
[00:32:53] Emily: And this
[00:32:54] Emily: woman rightfully calls them out, being like, "The fuck are you doing?" And they all scatter off because God forbid they, [00:33:00] you know, face a consequence. and they, like, go to the bathroom or something. And, but then we hear roaring and screaming,
[00:33:07] Alison: Lol.
[00:33:08] Emily: is 911's first zoo disaster
[00:33:10] Alison: First of a few
[00:33:12] Emily: First of a few. And Sean comes out of the bathroom to be like, "Oh, I should probably go find my nephews that I left behind."
[00:33:19] Alison: guys?
[00:33:19] Emily: And he runs face first into the tiger, and I was like, "Get him, Tony.
[00:33:23] Alison: Get 'em
[00:33:25] Emily: Get that bitch." so he calls 911 from the zoo, and Abby, should've been like, "Click, goodbye," tells him to stay still, and he does not listen to her
[00:33:38] Alison: Uncle Shaw does the exact opposite of that and runs away
[00:33:42] Emily: Does the whole... I, I certainly don't think I can outrun a tiger
[00:33:46] Alison: No.
[00:33:48] Emily: and he climbs up over a fence somehow, I could not do, and the tiger also jumps over it
[00:33:55] Alison: Yeah. He's like, I've been on safari. I know how fast these things go." [00:34:00] And I'm like, "First of all, what kind of tigers are you finding on African safari?"
[00:34:05] Emily: know, I know.
[00:34:06] Mandy: He's really
[00:34:06] Alison: Like, I have questions about where you are in the world.
[00:34:11] Emily: Yeah
[00:34:11] Alison: but also if you have been on s- you, you know that tigers and most of the big cats can jump
[00:34:19] Emily: Yeah, like a lot. Like real big
[00:34:20] Alison: a lot. Like, wow
[00:34:23] Emily: And it does. When, by the time the 118 shows up, the, the tiger's trainer has tried to get involved to try to corral, but he has gotten de-gloved,
[00:34:33] Alison: Oof
[00:34:34] Emily: yeah, from his, like, arm area. And he's actually very chill about getting wounded 'cause he's like, "Listen, the tiger is scared and confused, and we're all just trying to help. don't hurt my baby.
[00:34:47] Alison: Don't hurt my baby
[00:34:48] Emily: Don't hurt my baby." which is correct, but I, you know, this is what happens when we fuck with animals, is they're the ones who
[00:34:54] Mandy: Yeah
[00:34:54] Emily: the consequences. and Abby like, radioing over to be like, "Hey, [00:35:00] we got a dude loose in the zoo. Someone,
[00:35:03] Alison: this
[00:35:04] Emily: someone should go get him." And Athena's like, "727 L30. I'll go get this motherfucker."
[00:35:11] Alison: I'll go get him and she's not having a good day
[00:35:14] Emily: Yeah. and then Hen is like, a minute. Is that the same Sean Cupertino earlier? The dentist from Riverside?" Because it's time for a flashback
[00:35:26] Alison: Da-na-da-da-da.
[00:35:27] Emily: And is this, what flashback is this? Number four?
[00:35:31] Alison: I think,
[00:35:32] Emily: Sean is a dentist, he is also a douchebag big game hunter
[00:35:38] Alison: Boo. Oh, I'm sure
[00:35:40] Emily: Boo. He arrives to work, and I think this is again ripped from the headlines 'cause I have a vague memory of this. his office is surrounded by media and protesters talking about illegal poaching, and he's like, "What? You know, you were hunting on a protected preserve." and everyone in his [00:36:00] office is like staring at him
[00:36:02] Alison: you
[00:36:03] Emily: And when he gets into his, like, office office, it's just full of taxidermied animals, including a box of a recently murdered lion's head Because that's what you wanna see when you go into the dentist.
[00:36:17] Alison: Yes.
[00:36:18] Emily: Yeah.
[00:36:19] Alison: Remove my head, please
[00:36:20] Emily: Yeah. Like just a big old lion head. and
[00:36:24] Emily: Yeah. Aw. Uh, so we got Abby on the phone with Sean, who thinks he can, like, outsmart the tiger
[00:36:31] Alison: Yes, outsmart that tiger. You get him.
[00:36:34] Emily: Who is just directly behind him.
[00:36:36] Alison: correct, the whole time
[00:36:38] Emily: And I don't know that they intended this to look like Jurassic Park, but it does.
[00:36:42] Alison: Yes
[00:36:43] Emily: Because, like, Athena is at... What are those carts called? The, like, it's not a golf cart, but, like, the zookeepers are all in those, like, little...
[00:36:53] Alison: I think it's just a golf
[00:36:54] Emily: It's like a,
[00:36:55] Alison: with... It's got a bed instead.
[00:36:57] Emily: from Jurassic Park.
[00:36:58] Emily: You know what I'm talking about. They've got a [00:37:00] zookeeper with a tranq gun 'cause they gotta get the tiger, has gotten Sean. Oh n- oh no. But they tranq the tiger, and Hen's like, "Hey, hey, hey, Athena, that's the tiger who ate the idiot who killed Ellie the lion." And they're like, "The dentist from Riverside?" Like, everyone knows this dude. I feel like there were cut scenes where people talked about him more, but,
[00:37:24] Alison: Probably
[00:37:25] Emily: Athena's like, I think that everyone's gonna side with the tiger here."
[00:37:28] Alison: Correct.
[00:37:29] Mandy: Yep.
[00:37:29] Alison: siding with the tiger the whole story. I'm like,
[00:37:31] Mandy: Yep
[00:37:32] Alison: threw a pinecone at a tiger. Eat him.
[00:37:35] Emily: Yeah. Instead of karma being a bitch this time, karma is a wild animal who can't be caged.
[00:37:41] Alison: I
[00:37:42] Emily: Oh. And I- maybe Athena takes that to heart, I'm not sure. But she,
[00:37:49] Bobby's Revelation
[00:37:53] Emily: she goes home because it's time. Who- her shift ends. Who could say? Harry and Mae, children, are
[00:37:57] Alison: small.
[00:37:57] Emily: upstairs, doing [00:38:00] homework and being together,
[00:38:02] Alison: things
[00:38:03] Emily: and they have a little conversation about Michael. really, this is the chance for the kids to be like, "Hey, Dad being gay isn't the problem here. You guys trying to fake this family, that's the problem." And I love that
[00:38:20] Mandy: I love that
[00:38:21] Alison: honesty.
[00:38:22] Emily: Yeah
[00:38:22] Alison: do, Mae Grant. We sure do
[00:38:25] Emily: I adored them being like, "You guys are the problem, not... We're fine
[00:38:32] Alison: Yeah, we're fine. It was a little weird at
[00:38:34] Emily: Yeah.
[00:38:35] Alison: cool
[00:38:36] Emily: Like, what's weird is the two of you trying to pretend like you didn't fail at marriage, you've told us that honesty is the best policy, and now you're lying. So, like, get your shit together.
[00:38:48] Alison: Yeah. Come on, Mom
[00:38:50] Emily: I was like, incred- incredible work. Probably not something an 11-year-old would say, but I love it
[00:38:55] Alison: I love it just the same.
[00:38:56] Emily: Mm-hmm. I don't always vibe with Mae Grant, but I was [00:39:00] into this
[00:39:01] Alison: Yeah
[00:39:01] Emily: Which takes us to a really underserved moment, and that is a Bobby Nash thirst trap
[00:39:09] Alison: Oh my gosh.
[00:39:11] Emily: They're few and far between.
[00:39:13] Alison: Nash
[00:39:14] Emily: Yeah, it, they don't happen often, but when they do
[00:39:17] Alison: biceps when they do
[00:39:20] Emily: Yeah. Get the guns out. 'Cause like you, it takes some time to grow biceps. He's grown man
[00:39:26] Alison: Yeah. He's been working at it.
[00:39:28] Emily: He's been working out his whole life
[00:39:30] Alison: That functional strength
[00:39:32] Emily: I feel like Oliver Stark saw that and was like, "Oh, I need to get it together."
[00:39:37] Alison: Yes, exactly
[00:39:38] Emily: I can. That's what we're trying to do here.
[00:39:41] Alison: Man, you mean you want me to try to be sexier than Bobby Dash? Are you kidding?
[00:39:46] Emily: Peter Krause up? Mm. Okay. And then they brought in Ryan Guzman
[00:39:51] Alison: And then they brought in Ryan Gosling. Oh, boy.
[00:39:53] Alison: We'll get there when we get there
[00:39:55] Emily: We got, he's gotta fix himself real quick. Yes, his, fitness journey sure [00:40:00] changed between seasons two and three.
[00:40:02] Alison: Sure did.
[00:40:02] Emily: so Chim comes beat-bopping in and he's like, "Listen, gonna get, like, a presidential medal of honor, of freedom for the work that you're gonna do saving all these kids." Bobby is
[00:40:16] Alison: babies.
[00:40:17] Emily: them babies, as if they're not already heroes.
[00:40:20] Alison: Right
[00:40:21] Emily: and Bobby's like, "Go away. I don't wanna talk about this." can't let it go 'cause he's Chim. He's like, "But you're a lifesaver. You're gonna save thousands of kids, of lives." And Bobby yells at him, "They're the wrong kids."
[00:40:34] Alison: Now it, question. know that they tell, that Bobby tells Buck and Hen about, like, his whole situation, he has his relapse
[00:40:47] Emily: Yes
[00:40:48] Alison: Does he tell Chim- does Chim know at this point?
[00:40:52] Emily: So I, there was a moment in one of the previous episodes where Bobby's like, I want [00:41:00] you to meet me." And I,
[00:41:01] Alison: me,
[00:41:02] Emily: the real me. And I think that's intended to be like, "I'm gonna tell you my life, my story."
[00:41:09] Alison: I'm gonna tell you my deal.
[00:41:10] Emily: 'Cause if that's not what that was, then he hasn't told Chimney anything.
[00:41:15] Alison: Yeah
[00:41:15] Emily: And this is, if that's not what he did then in like, it was like maybe episode six, five or six,
[00:41:21] Alison: something, yeah.
[00:41:23] Emily: is the first time Chimney's finding anything out about Bobby, and that would be rough.
[00:41:28] Alison: That would be wild
[00:41:29] Emily: Because
[00:41:30] Mandy: I did wonder if I missed something
[00:41:32] Emily: No, I
[00:41:33] Mandy: I, yeah
[00:41:35] Emily: I think that's what that line is supposed to have been, is like, "I'm gonna tell you my story finally." ' Cause if not, this is the moment
[00:41:44] Alison: it doesn't clearly read that
[00:41:46] Emily: It does not. It sure doesn't. it may also be an, an instance where the writers forget who knows what
[00:41:52] Alison: Right.
[00:41:53] Emily: Bec-
[00:41:54] Alison: maybe it's a cut scene
[00:41:55] Emily: Or it could be a cut scene. Yeah. And Bobby really goes off like, "I [00:42:00] owe f- 148 lives, and once I pay that debt, I get to be with my family again." And I was halfway there. I was gonna see my kids, and that was the deal. a,
[00:42:11] Alison: What?
[00:42:11] Emily: a deal with who? And it was a deal that he made with God, 'cause don't forget, he was Catholic And it finally clicks for Chim that Bobby is talking about killing himself Now how that didn't click for him before, I don't know, but it clicks for
[00:42:25] Mandy: Yeah.
[00:42:25] Emily: now
[00:42:26] Mandy: Bobby wasn't being really subtle
[00:42:28] Emily: He was not being subtle that Bobby wants out. And now God is punishing him, by killing him with cancer, 'cause that's what he thought this blood thing was gonna be, but by forcing him to stay alive.
[00:42:41] Alison: Rip
[00:42:43] Emily: So this big exciting gift that Chimney thought, it's like, "Oh, you get to be a hero forever," is, like, the worst thing possible
[00:42:51] Mandy: Is this something that's carried through for Bobby? Like, is there references to him donating blood every eight weeks?
[00:42:57] Alison: no, But the, not at [00:43:00] all. Not at
[00:43:00] Mandy: Okay. Damn. So he never got that medal
[00:43:03] Alison: we do really like to play with Bobby's magic blood because Bobby has magic
[00:43:07] Alison: That's don't
[00:43:08] Alison: in this episode. Just across the
[00:43:10] Emily: Oh, okay.
[00:43:11] Alison: When, not specifically about that
[00:43:13] Emily: Okay
[00:43:13] Alison: but, you know, when he gets stuck in the tunnel and when he's like, when he ends up injured or whatever, it's like, "Oh, don't worry, he'll be fine.
[00:43:22] Alison: He's got magic blood."
[00:43:23] Emily: Yeah. And no, it, I don't even know that it's brought up again in this season.
[00:43:28] Alison: No, not even
[00:43:29] Emily: No. And you would think, g- there's eight more seasons of this show. Not, I don't even think there's another blood donation episode,
[00:43:38] Alison: I don't think so,
[00:43:38] Emily: considering how vital donated blood is to the work of firefighters, EMTs, all the times everyone in the show is in the hospital needing blood
[00:43:49] Alison: For real.
[00:43:51] Emily: Everyone on this show has to get blood
[00:43:53] Alison: At least once
[00:43:55] Emily: Like, and not another mention of like, "Ah, I hope I get Bobby's good [00:44:00] blood.
[00:44:00] Alison: Yeah.
[00:44:00] Emily: I hope I get that good Bobby blood."
[00:44:02] Alison: that could... Bobby Blood.
[00:44:04] Emily: No. Nope. Not one fucking mention of this huge plot point where it outs that Bobby wants to die, that instead he is perpetually saving lives, that it, I phenomenally, dropped ball, dropped plot, dropped character development.
[00:44:22] Emily: I don't even know, like why would... You can't put something this huge into an episode and then be like, "Okay, bye."
[00:44:29] Alison: Okay. Like, I do really like it. I think it's a super interesting thing to do to Bobby. He's like, "I wanted to leave, and God is punishing me by making me stay here anyway." And that's a really interesting set of circumstances for Bobert Nash
[00:44:46] Emily: Especially if you connect it to the thing about Buck that we find out later
[00:44:51] Alison: Yes, especially if you connect it to the thing we learned about Buck and like it's the, the big whole [00:45:00] difference between am I more than my body? What do I owe my community? What do I owe to myself? Can I make decisions for myself based on X and X and X and Y? it's just
[00:45:12] Emily: What intrinsic value do I hold? And is it a failure if it doesn't work
[00:45:18] Alison: Right. And is it a failure if it doesn't work or if I take it away?
[00:45:22] Emily: Yeah. But I don't even think they remembered this about Bobby when they did that to Buck. So
[00:45:26] Alison: Absolutely
[00:45:27] Emily: sorry
[00:45:27] Emily: Mandy for all of the
[00:45:28] Alison: A little. They, they have no idea.
[00:45:30] Emily: you'll get there about Buck when you get there
[00:45:32] Alison: Kristen tried. She tried to set this up. She did. And
[00:45:36] Alison: the other writers just let us down
[00:45:38] Emily: I mean, did she try to set it up or was this something that was in the show bible for season one?
[00:45:43] Alison: That's a great question.
[00:45:45] Emily: like the show bible for season one could have said character points about Bobby Nash. One, dead family.
[00:45:51] Alison: blood
[00:45:52] Emily: blood to have this weird atonement, right? Like that could have been there from the beginning
[00:45:57] Alison: Legally, that is possible. I [00:46:00] feel like it's unlikely, but it's possible
[00:46:02] Emily: how I feel about other people tying threads together in later seasons. Like, I mean, legally maybe, but practically no
[00:46:09] Alison: Including my favorite rec hunt of all time
[00:46:12] Emily: My God, which one is that?
[00:46:13] Alison: Season one.
[00:46:15] Emily: Oh, yeah.
[00:46:16] Alison: My favorite
[00:46:17] Emily: No
[00:46:17] Alison: of all time. I'm not saying I'm happy about it, I'm just saying it makes me giggle
[00:46:22] Emily: Didn't happen. Anyway, so no, Mandy, this doesn't happen again.
[00:46:26] Mandy: Okay
[00:46:27] Emily: but just as you're watching the show, remember every eight weeks Bobby Nash has to go donate blood
[00:46:33] Mandy: Yeah.
[00:46:34] Alison: For the babies, Mandy.
[00:46:36] Emily: the babies
[00:46:37] Mandy: The freshly born babies
[00:46:39] Emily: Yes. And not, you know, a five-month pregnant woman, ' cause science. speaking of science, a
[00:46:45] Hen's Confession & Athena's Divorce
[00:46:45] Emily: hen is cleaning a blood stain with Coca-Cola.
[00:46:48] Alison: Love this for her.
[00:46:49] Emily: Which, yeah, I mean, that works
[00:46:52] Alison: Coca-Cola gets off everything. Would not surprise me if it works on blood
[00:46:56] Emily: I think that's accurate, yeah. I see no problem [00:47:00] here. it does feel like a waste though, and that stuff's not cheap. But they're at a scene, a dude robbed a store and then got hit by a dump truck. Karma.
[00:47:08] Alison: Instant karma.
[00:47:10] Emily: karma. But really, Hen... This is another Hen-Athena scene
[00:47:15] Alison: Yay
[00:47:17] Emily: And Hen was like, "Hey, Athena, you know that thing that I wanted to tell you? I slept with Ava
[00:47:24] Alison: I fucked
[00:47:25] Emily: Ugh. Athena's like, okay. Well, you have to tell your wife
[00:47:30] Alison: She's like, "Do I gotta?"
[00:47:31] Emily: I love that Hen was like, "But why? We're in a good place." Oh, are you? Are you in a good place? The fact that
[00:47:37] Alison: you
[00:47:38] Emily: was like, sex with someone else just reminded me how much I love my wife," I was like, oh
[00:47:43] Alison: Henrietta.
[00:47:44] Emily: my God. Hen.
[00:47:45] Emily: He was like, "I don't wanna screw my relationship up." Too late, baby
[00:47:47] Alison: Too late, Angel
[00:47:49] Emily: And at least Athena was like, "Your relationship is already screwed up."
[00:47:53] Alison: Correct. 'Cause
[00:47:58] Emily: Maybe. [00:48:00] But you gotta get in there.
[00:48:01] Alison: honesty in this house
[00:48:02] Emily: We prefer honesty in this house. but you gotta do it before it's too late
[00:48:07] Alison: Donna
[00:48:09] Emily: 'Cause hen's karma is coming, coming knocking
[00:48:13] Alison: coming a-knocking
[00:48:14] Emily: But first, Athena has to go do what she has to do, and that is Michael that it is time for a divorce
[00:48:23] Alison: As hard as this scene, I have to imagine, like, to ideate and to write and to, to do, I love them both so much
[00:48:31] Emily: Yeah
[00:48:32] Mandy: Yeah, it was good
[00:48:34] Alison: for me, I think Athena is spot on. It's one of those, like, I am feeling completely betrayed, I'm feeling completely alone, and you are the best friend I've ever had and the father of my children, and I love you, and I have to do this now while I still love you.
[00:48:52] Emily: Mm-hmm
[00:48:52] Alison: I have to do this with the love in my heart because it's gonna turn into anger, and then that's gonna ruin everything forever, [00:49:00] and we can't put this off anymore. I have to make this choice now while I still love you. And I think that there's just something about, there's something about that that just really, really gets to me
[00:49:12] Emily: Yeah. Occasionally this show does really interesting things
[00:49:16] Alison: Yes. Sometimes they're really good. Love this for us
[00:49:19] Emily: it, it's crazy. now unfortunately, on the other side, Hen has to go home
[00:49:25] Alison: Well, she's going home to the most beautiful house and the most beautiful wife.
[00:49:30] Alison: but yes, Karen, her lovely wife, her suffering wife
[00:49:36] Alison: suffering life.
[00:49:37] Emily: is waiting for her with a classic, "You're late."
[00:49:42] Alison: Karen's had a bad day
[00:49:44] Mandy: Yeah
[00:49:44] Emily: has, ' cause she's got a pile of paperwork
[00:49:48] Alison: That's never good.
[00:49:49] Emily: Because Eva is suing for custody of Denny, their child.
[00:49:54] Alison: Ugh
[00:49:54] Emily: And the claim is that Karen and Hen have an unstable home [00:50:00] unsuitable for raising a child.
[00:50:02] Alison: Mm-hmm.
[00:50:03] Mandy: So there it is
[00:50:03] Emily: that is infidelity
[00:50:06] Alison: Lol
[00:50:07] Emily: And Karen is like, "Up, out. I'm gonna go pack. I'm taking Denny to the parents. Bye."
[00:50:13] Alison: Bye.
[00:50:14] Emily: I don't know what you're looking for, but I hope you found it and that it was worth it.
[00:50:17] Alison: Ouch
[00:50:20] Mandy: I would cry
[00:50:21] Emily: Ooh, love Karen.
[00:50:23] Alison: I love Karen so much. It's one of those things, like, we're eight episodes deep, and I love Hen. I do. But I'm on Karen's team right now. Like, Hen's got to beg on her knees, supplication. Like
[00:50:37] Emily: And we don't, like, we don't know anything about Karen's background. We don't know what she does. We don't, we don't know anyth- but we're like, "Yeah, you're right.
[00:50:43] Alison: Yeah, you're right, Karen.
[00:50:45] Emily: take that kid who we've seen
[00:50:48] Alison: Barely
[00:50:49] Emily: seconds of, and you take him outta here. Yeah. You're not even a second string player on this show, and you take him."
[00:50:56] Alison: You go girl
[00:50:57] Emily: Go girl. Also
[00:50:59] Athena's Date & Bobby's Baby
[00:51:01] Emily: going girl is Athena, having a little, a little self-care date night for herself And immediately
[00:51:06] Alison: allowed to do
[00:51:07] Emily: she is allowed to do that, and someone sends her a drink because obviously she is Angela Bassett and she is fucking gorgeous
[00:51:13] Alison: Because if you see somebody, anybody who looks like Angela Bassett sitting by themselves at a bar, you send them a drink
[00:51:21] Mandy: Yeah
[00:51:21] Emily: this. I don't know what bar etiquette is, so I will... Part of me is like, "Don't, don't talk to me. Don't But I'm not Angela Bassett, so. The band who has the gumption to do so is Aaron And now it's been a long time since Athena's been in the game, but this man is very smooth. And Athena
[00:51:40] Alison: is very smooth, but that immediately puts me
[00:51:42] Emily: It puts me off too.
[00:51:45] Alison: I'm like, "What are you doing? Stop it."
[00:51:46] Emily: I was like, "Damn, bro, chill." Now, Athena gets his full name and date of birth so someone can run a background check on him at the station
[00:51:53] Alison: Because she is 727L30 responding
[00:51:55] Emily: was like, "Brilliant. I love this for you."
[00:51:58] Mandy: Good for her
[00:51:58] Emily: they got a little flirty thing [00:52:00] going.
[00:52:00] Alison: Get it girl.
[00:52:01] Emily: Yeah. I mean, she
[00:52:03] Mandy: I love that he was like, he's like 20 years younger than her.
[00:52:06] Emily: yeah.
[00:52:07] Mandy: Like, get it, Athena
[00:52:08] Emily: And her husband's been gay the whole time, so
[00:52:11] Alison: Yep.
[00:52:12] Emily: who could say how that's been going for them?
[00:52:14] Alison: say?
[00:52:15] Emily: And now we get to end this episode with ChimBob, BobbyChim, whatever their ship name is.
[00:52:22] Alison: Chubby.
[00:52:23] Emily: I don't like that. Chobby?
[00:52:25] Alison: That sounds like a, like a personal problem. Very sorry
[00:52:30] Emily: Chubby. Bobby comes running to the hospital and it's because Jim called him to meet him there, and I guess didn't tell him that everything was fine
[00:52:39] Alison: Yeah, because Bobby comes running when Chim is in need.
[00:52:44] Emily: He does. One of his,
[00:52:45] Alison: does
[00:52:46] Emily: one of his ducklings. And it's to show him a, one of the babies who needs his blood.
[00:52:51] Alison: Baby.
[00:52:52] Emily: we've learned today, is not how this works. And it is deeply manipulative of Chimney be like, "Here is [00:53:00] this living baby," and her desperate father Steven, who, thanks Bobby profusely and hugs him and says that, "My, my baby is alive because of you."
[00:53:10] Alison: Because of you
[00:53:11] Emily: Chimney's like, "Now you tell me that's the wrong kid, and these are your kids, too." Like, n- no. No.
[00:53:17] Alison: All of Bobby's children.
[00:53:19] Emily: are...
[00:53:19] Alison: collects children
[00:53:20] Alison: now
[00:53:21] Emily: I mean, a little bit, but not like this
[00:53:24] Alison: bit. A little bit. It's his two kids, and then his additional kids, and then all of these
[00:53:30] Emily: And then all, yeah, his two kids, the kids he's gonna have later, Buck, and then everyone else
[00:53:37] Alison: Then every baby that's born with magic Bobby
[00:53:40] Emily: Magic probably blood. and he's like, "No, K, Chim, it's a blessing." And then, my note here was that we never see him donate blood again.
[00:53:48] Alison: Never, ever
[00:53:49] Emily: Never, ever again
[00:53:50] Final Thoughts & Wrap-up
[00:53:50] Emily: A bit of a chaotic episode, honestly. I
[00:53:53] Alison: But I still really like it. It's fun because
[00:53:55] Emily: like it.
[00:53:56] Alison: episode
[00:53:56] Emily: I like a good themed episode, I'm not gonna lie
[00:53:59] Mandy: I [00:54:00] mean, I have one major complaint with it, but it's not the theming. The theming is fine
[00:54:04] Alison: would you like to talk about that?
[00:54:06] Mandy: I just miss Abby. I was really fr- like the entire episode, I kept like thinking, "She's gonna be in the next scene, right?" Like, surely she's in the next scene. Till like halfway through it was like, nah. But it's just the fact that I knew there was only three more episodes with her in it,
[00:54:21] Emily: Yeah.
[00:54:23] Mandy: more now.
[00:54:23] Mandy: So kind of a bummer to not get her at all in one of them
[00:54:27] Emily: It works better when someone's missing from an episode when there's 20 of them.
[00:54:32] Mandy: Yeah.
[00:54:33] Emily: When there's only 10, you're
[00:54:34] Mandy: I could see that, yeah
[00:54:35] Emily: coming back, you're like, "Wait a minute.
[00:54:37] Alison: Wait a minute
[00:54:38] Emily: She's one of the main characters. Where'd she go?" She, maybe she was busy that day. I don't know.
[00:54:43] Alison: she had finals
[00:54:44] Emily: The grown woman had finals
[00:54:46] Alison: I am just looking at my notes and there's a few that I'd like to bring up.
[00:54:51] Emily: What would you like to bring to the class?
[00:54:53] Alison: I'd like to bring to the class, during the, zoo scene
[00:54:56] Emily: Yes
[00:54:57] Alison: when Hen and Athena are talking about, [00:55:00] you know, everyone's gonna be on the cat side, Hen does this, like, posture, and it gave me, like, the chest tinglies.
[00:55:08] Emily: Hmm
[00:55:09] Alison: Henrietta was just smoking hot this episode, and
[00:55:13] Alison: I was really upset about it. It was distracting.
[00:55:16] Emily: Yeah
[00:55:16] Alison: Distracting. and then I also have a note when Athena is talking to Michael about the whole divorce thing, Athena is honestly so right. Get divorced while you still love each other, 'cause otherwise you end up, like, redacted.
[00:55:29] Alison: And it just-- Mandy, I'm sorry, we'll get there when we
[00:55:32] Mandy: Okay.
[00:55:33] Alison: I was laughing at myself real hard.
[00:55:36] Emily: Yikes.
[00:55:37] Alison: make sure you get divorced while you still love each other, because otherwise things go in many directions
[00:55:43] Emily: Poorly
[00:55:44] Alison: They go poorly for everyone.
[00:55:47] Emily: See that? Okay, okay.
[00:55:48] Alison: fun.
[00:55:49] Emily: This is fun. I was looking at the, the Wiki about it, and we have, Karma Chameleon, Instant Karma. forgot about Alanis Morissette's You Oughta Know. [00:56:00] The Killers' Some Kind of Love is what's playing, when Bobby and Chimney are at the, in the baby ward. These are good music.
[00:56:07] Emily: This is a Glee episode. These are some good songs.
[00:56:10] Alison: they are
[00:56:11] Emily: Yeah Yeah. I, I don't know. This is a fun, like... Got some lore drop from... It, it's... Okay, the fact that one character spends half of the episode, like, actively suicidal and telling people he's ready to kill himself, and then the calls are people, like, getting chased by a tiger, falling down a set of stairs, getting Final Destination-ed in a tanning bed, it's just, like, classic 9-1-1
[00:56:39] Alison: Yes, this is classic, and I'm, I... Not that I love a tone shift, but I appreciate where, episodes where you actually get both of those things. You get some character development, you get the fun, silly calls. It's a thematic episode. Like, good job, Kristen. Good job
[00:56:57] Mandy: I did feel like this is the first episode that felt [00:57:00] more like this is the show everyone on Tumblr talks about.
[00:57:03] Emily: Mm-hmm.
[00:57:04] Mandy: Like for that sort of vibe, like the gif sets I see where I'm like, "Well, that's entirely unrealistic, but I believe that happened on the show."
[00:57:10] Emily: Yeah. 'cause hon-- I I
[00:57:13] Emily: early season one is a very different show. I like it. I like it. I just, it's a very different show, and would have,
[00:57:20] Alison: very different
[00:57:20] Emily: if they had stayed there, we would have ended up in a very different place, which could have been interesting
[00:57:27] Alison: Yeah. The Chobbie universe.
[00:57:29] Emily: Well, it would've been Bobby, Abby, Buck for like half a season and then probably no Hen/Karen. They probably would've broken up, gotten back together down the line, right? Like they probably would've really leaned into drama, right? 'Cause nobody breaks up
[00:57:49] Alison: Redacted. Fucking redacted. I can't, I can't
[00:57:53] Emily: But like, yeah
[00:57:55] Alison: Yeah.
[00:57:56] Mandy: I can't wait to listen to this back in like a couple of [00:58:00] years and be like, "Oh, right.
[00:58:01] Emily: It's
[00:58:02] Mandy: I get it now."
[00:58:03] Emily: because it's not Glee. They're not like... Do you know what I mean? There's no Blob. Well, the Blob is different
[00:58:10] Alison: Yeah, the blob is different. The blob is a platonic blob
[00:58:13] Emily: The blob is that everyone has to work in the fire station because otherwise they can't keep track of their characters.
[00:58:20] Alison: Right. Nobody else has relationships of really any kind outside the firehouse, unless they're, like, very special.
[00:58:28] Emily: Yeah
[00:58:28] Alison: Or, and almost always temporary.
[00:58:32] Emily: Mm-hmm. I j- and, and maybe that's the cost, maybe that's the budget issue, is that they can't have other sets for people to work in. They've got the call center and the fire station, and if you don't work there, you don't exist
[00:58:45] Alison: Exactly
[00:58:46] Emily: And that's why 727L30 has to be in her car. She has to be a sergeant because she can't have a desk
[00:58:51] Alison: Yeah, she can't have a desk 'cause she has to get into Elaine's office.
[00:58:55] Emily: Yeah. Oh, yeah, maybe
[00:58:57] Alison: Get promoted to her boss's [00:59:00] office.
[00:59:00] Emily: This is why we can't go to conventions, 'cause these are the questions we're gonna ask is like, okay, why does everyone work at the station? Is it a budget question?
[00:59:07] Alison: anyone have a friend?
[00:59:08] Emily: Why d- yeah.
[00:59:09] Alison: why doesn't Buck have a neighbor?
[00:59:12] Emily: W- no- nobody has neighbors. How come Mae has no friends?
[00:59:17] Alison: How come Mae has no friends? Chimney very notably had one neighbor.
[00:59:22] Emily: You have one neighbor.
[00:59:24] Alison: He had one neighbor, and then they got absorbed into the blob.
[00:59:28] Emily: Mm-hmm
[00:59:29] Alison: Like, yeah, the blob. The blob makes a return, but it's a little bit
[00:59:33] Emily: It's different. Nobody exists outside the 118
[00:59:38] Alison: Correct. But we've only got two episodes left in the season. What?
[00:59:43] Emily: I know. That's crazy.
[00:59:45] Alison: What?
[00:59:45] Emily: We've got "Trapped" and "A Whole New You."
[00:59:49] Alison: A whole
[00:59:50] Emily: And the season finale is written by RBT, Ryan Brad Tim
[00:59:56] Mandy: Okay
[00:59:57] Alison: And that's what you missed on Glee
[00:59:58] Emily: Do we have any final [01:00:00] things or is that the end of the episode?
[01:00:01] Alison: I'm
[01:00:02] Alison: sorry there wasn't more Abby for you, Mandy
[01:00:04] Mandy: Thank you. I was gonna say I'm excited to see her back in the next episode, even though I realize her story's kind of like just wrapping up at this point. She's got one more, like, big story point to hit though, right?
[01:00:16] Alison: At least.
[01:00:17] Mandy: Okay.
[01:00:18] Emily: Do you know how it ends?
[01:00:19] Mandy: I think so.
[01:00:21] Alison: Do
[01:00:22] Mandy: I think
[01:00:22] Alison: I would lo- without commenting on whether things are right or wrong or yeses or nos, what, do you remember about the rest of Abby's arc in season one?
[01:00:31] Mandy: I think her mom dies, doesn't she? And then I don't remember much besides that.
[01:00:37] Emily: Great.
[01:00:38] Mandy: no, I'm gonna go with that
[01:00:40] Alison: Looking forward to the next two weeks to see what
[01:00:43] Mandy: Yeah
[01:00:43] Emily: I look forward to your viewing experience.
[01:00:47] Alison: I look forward to your narrating your viewing experience
[01:00:50] Mandy: I will definitely take some extra notes just to preserve my, like, initial reactions
[01:00:57] Emily: Okay.
[01:00:57] Alison: be great.
[01:00:58] Emily: Well, it'll be great. And then we [01:01:00] will miss her dearly.
[01:01:01] Alison: Yep
[01:01:02] Emily: I do miss her sometimes
[01:01:03] Alison: Yeah. It's, it's, she's, I mean, right now she's in the blob. She works at, dispatch. She's more or less dating Buck. she's more or less flirting with Bobby over coffee. She came to Chimney's welcome back party. She's in the blob.
[01:01:19] Emily: Yeah
[01:01:20] Alison: So
[01:01:21] Emily: Yeah, she's cool.
[01:01:22] Alison: Yeah
[01:01:23] Emily: Okay, well, that is Karma. a bitch. Don't sing it again. They're gonna charge us. Actually, I don't know how that works. It's very confusing. yeah, we'll be back. We got two more episodes, and then onto season two and the arrival of a couple new cast members
[01:01:40] Mandy: I'm sure there's no one interesting, right?
[01:01:43] Emily: No, nobody.
[01:01:44] Alison: there's no actual characters, just these big brown baby cow
[01:01:49] Emily: Yeah, just two sets of big brown eyes
[01:01:51] Alison: Just two sets of big brown eyes
[01:01:53] Emily: And you know what?
[01:01:54] Alison: And then you just say yes.
[01:01:55] Emily: Yeah. And you're like, "Okay, this is great."
[01:01:57] Alison: Okay
[01:01:58] Mandy: I can't wait
[01:01:59] Emily: [01:02:00] Yeah. and some for everybody
[01:02:01] Alison: Yeah. Little something for everybody.
[01:02:03] Emily: for everybody. All right, well, thank
[01:02:05] Alison: something for everybody
[01:02:06] Emily: you for listening, and then I guess we'll catch you, on the second to last episode of, of season one.
